Cleveland Police have arrested five teenagers on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a man's body in Stockton.
Discovery and Arrests
Officers were called to an address on Egglescliffe Close just before 7pm on Saturday night, where they found a 49-year-old man dead. Following the discovery, a major investigation was launched.
Overnight, police detained five suspects. Those arrested include a 19-year-old man, two 18-year-old men, and two 17-year-old boys. All are currently in custody and being questioned on suspicion of murder.
Police Appeal Over Social Media Footage
Cleveland Police confirmed they are aware of video footage relating to the incident circulating on social media platforms. The force issued a direct appeal to the public.
"Please do not share this footage any further, as this could impact on legal proceedings," a police spokesperson urged. Sharing such material can potentially prejudice a future trial and hinder the investigation.
Ongoing Investigation
The investigation remains active, with police expected to continue their work at the scene on Egglescliffe Close. The identity of the deceased man has not yet been formally released by authorities.
Detectives are appealing for anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police to come forward. The community in Stockton has been left shocked by the incident.
