Cleveland Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Stockton, County Durham, with five teenagers now in custody.

Officers were called to an address on Egglescliffe Close in Stockton at approximately 6.50pm on Saturday, 10 January 2026. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of a 49-year-old man.
In a significant development overnight, police arrested five individuals on suspicion of murder. Those detained include two 18-year-old men, two 17-year-old boys, and a 19-year-old man. All five remain in police custody for questioning as of Sunday, 11 January.
