A food delivery driver who called police after discovering a partially naked customer ended up being arrested herself after filming the incident and posting it on TikTok.
The Viral Video That Backfired
Olivia Henderson, a 23-year-old delivery driver, experienced a shocking encounter on October 12 when she arrived to deliver a food order in upstate New York. According to her since-deleted TikTok video that garnered millions of views, she found the customer with his pants and trousers around his ankles, lying on his couch within clear view of the open front door.
In the viral clip posted to her account @irlmonsterhighdoll, Henderson claimed: "My customer requested that my order be left at their front door, and when I arrived at their house, their front door was wide open, and they were within eyesight of the front door, laying on the couch, indecently exposed to me." She described the experience as a form of sexual assault in her social media post.
Police Investigation Takes Unexpected Turn
The day following the incident, Henderson contacted law enforcement to report what she believed was indecent exposure. However, the investigation took a dramatic turn when police arrested Henderson instead of the customer.
Authorities revealed that Ring camera footage appeared to contradict Henderson's version of events. The footage suggested she had entered the property while the man was unconscious on his couch, apparently incapacitated by alcohol consumption. Police stated in an official release: "The video indicates that the male was incapacitated and unconscious on his couch due to alcohol consumption."
They further noted that "the DoorDash driver subsequently posted the video to social media, where it drew significant attention" after making claims of being sexually assaulted.
Serious Consequences and Platform Response
Henderson now faces severe legal consequences, including felony charges of unlawful surveillance in the second degree and dissemination of an unlawful surveillance image in the first degree. If convicted, she could potentially face up to eight years in prison. Currently released on bail, her next court appearance is scheduled for December 4.
DoorDash, the popular food delivery service comparable to UK platforms like Deliveroo and Just Eat, took swift action by deactivating Henderson's account. The company stated that posting video of a customer in their home constituted "a clear violation of our policies." The customer's account was also deactivated pending investigation.
In a comprehensive statement, DoorDash clarified their position: "No one should ever have to experience sexual assault, harassment, or abuse, and DoorDash never deactivates someone for reporting it full stop. However, posting a video of a customer in their home, and disclosing their personal details publicly, is a clear violation of our policies. That is the sole reason that this Dasher's account was deactivated."
The company emphasized that they encourage drivers to report safety concerns directly to them, assuring that "We take these reports incredibly seriously and work closely with law enforcement to investigate and support those affected."
Despite the serious charges against her, Henderson maintains her victim status, claiming in a follow-up post that "the police, DoorDash, and TikTok, are all punishing me, a victim." The case continues to develop as both legal proceedings and platform investigations move forward.
