Car crash death estimate corrected
An article on 25 June (p13) about the impact of larger cars on road safety contained an error in the projected number of additional deaths. The correct estimate is that by 2040, 400 extra road users could die annually in crashes due to the rising size of cars, not 2,600 as previously stated. The figure of 2,600 represents the cumulative total based on current trends, not the annual increase. The article also clarified that this figure relates to non-drivers.
Nigel Cabourn obituary correction
In the obituary of designer Nigel Cabourn published on 29 June (Journal, p6), it was incorrectly stated that he reworked a 1950s USAF flight jacket into the 'SV4', which became an international sensation. In fact, the jacket was called the US4.
