Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) has made a worrying discovery about Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) in Coronation Street. This week, Megan has been in court, attending her trial after sexually abusing Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale).
Will's testimony unravels
Yesterday, Will took to the stand and was questioned by Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), who is representing Megan, and also the prosecution. Things were going well, but Will's confidence was destroyed when he made the mistake of making eye contact with Megan. He then said his comments about Megan were false, and that he was never in a relationship with her. The jury was sent home after Will's comments, and his family were told that the judge needed to decide whether the trial would continue.
Sam discovers the truth
The Driscolls were back in court today, following the judge's conclusion that it would carry on. Taking to the stand next was Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker). While this was going on, teenager Sam was being paid a visit by friend Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan). The youngster is still spending time in a mental health unit following a psychosis breakdown a couple of weeks ago. Sam was pleased to see Hope, but very quickly asked her for the latest update on Megan's trial. Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) were aware of what happened in the court yesterday, but chose to not tell Sam to protect his mental health. While they were quite good at lying to him, Hope couldn't keep up her facade for very long. Sam very quickly worked out from Hope that his dad and Toyah had been keeping something from him. The youngster confronted the adults, but struggled to believe their claims that they kept quiet for his wellbeing. Nick said that he wanted to speak to a psychiatrist to work out the best way to approach the conversation, but that didn't wash with Sam either. His anxiety increasing, Sam began to fear that Megan was going to get released and come after him for being the one to expose her relationship with Will.
Impact on Sam and the trial
Sam told Nick and Toyah to leave, not wanting to see them anymore. As it stands, the possibility of Megan getting away with abusing Will is very high. Ben was thrown out of court today because of his anger, and Will has stated that the allegations about Megan are false, making it look as though he's just wasted everyone's time. It's really not looking good for those impacted by Megan's manipulation. According to the article, the judge allowed the trial to continue despite Will's retraction. The jury's verdict remains pending, leaving Megan's fate uncertain.
