There is more trouble ahead for the Platt family in Coronation Street, and Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) is at the centre of it. This evening's episode of the ITV soap revealed that Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) killed Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) after a violent confrontation. Sarah attacked Theo with a metal pipe when he threatened her, causing him to fall from scaffolding to his death.
Sarah's desperate fight for survival
Actress Tina O'Brien explained the intense scene: 'She'd gone looking for Todd, she rang him, she could hear this phone on the scaffolding, so she went up and there was Theo. She said some things that were pretty threatening so then he wouldn't let her leave. The way he was talking, it sounded like he'd done something to Todd, as in he was dead, that's how it felt to Sarah, that he'd done something awful to Todd.'
She added: 'Then he said, if you think what I did to Todd was bad, and I loved him, think what I can do to you! He was coming towards her, and I think in that moment, as far as she was concerned, it was do or die.'
Jodie's suspicious distraction
In upcoming episodes, Sarah visits Jodie seeking closure about her own attack. DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) arrives, and Jodie invites them inside. Sarah recounts the attack, insisting it happened at 9:10pm and that she heard David the dog barking. Jodie later claims Sarah's timings don't add up and suggests she might have been with Gary Windass (Mikey North). Sarah retaliates by questioning Jodie about her trinket box.
Just as Jodie is cornered, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) bursts in, furious that the gate was left open and David the dog is missing. The question remains: is this a deliberate distraction by Jodie to keep her secrets hidden?
David Platt grows suspicious
If Jodie is behind the dog's disappearance, she may need another plan soon. David tells Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) that Sarah seems to be acting strangely around Jodie. The pressure is mounting on Sarah, who is torn between protecting her family and confessing to the murder.
Tina O'Brien added: 'It's not just about her now, it's about her family and her son, and there are times when she can't cope with the pressure and you think she's just going to hand herself in. And then she thinks about her son growing up without a mum, if she's convicted and can't prove she acted in self defence. And because of those things, she's so desperate to do whatever it takes to be part of her family's life.'
