Two Individuals Arrested Following Failed Arson Attempt at Finchley Synagogue
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed the arrest of two people in connection with a failed arson attack targeting Finchley Reform Synagogue in North London. This incident, which occurred in the early hours of April 15, is being treated as a suspected antisemitic hate crime, heightening concerns within the local Jewish community.

According to police reports, two individuals dressed in dark clothing and wearing balaclavas were observed entering the synagogue grounds on Fallow Court Avenue shortly before 12:10 AM. The suspects placed two glass bottles near the building's windows and threw a brick, which shattered one of the bottles. It is believed that the bottles contained petrol, but fortunately, neither ignited, preventing any fire from starting. The pair fled the scene immediately, with no injuries or significant damage reported.
In a rapid response, officers arrested a 47-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man in the Watford area on Wednesday afternoon and evening, respectively. Both individuals remain in police custody under suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, as the investigation continues to unfold.

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams, who oversees policing in the area, emphasized the seriousness with which authorities are treating this attack. "However, we understand the significant concern the Jewish community will feel at another incident so soon after the arson attack on four ambulances in Golders Green."
