Screams pierced the air in a North London street yesterday as a group of armed robbers launched a brazen attack on a jewellers, before making a swift escape on scooters, with courageous members of the public attempting to stop them.

The incident occurred at Bilezzik jewellers on Green Lanes in Islington, around 10am on Tuesday, February 24. Footage of the event has been widely circulated, showing the perpetrators wearing helmets and dressed entirely in black. According to local reports, they were armed with machetes, a detail confirmed by police authorities.

Shop Specialises in Gold-Plated Jewellery

Bilezzik, which opened its doors in Green Lanes in April 2025, focuses on offering gold-plated jewellery. Following the robbery, the shop has sustained internal damage, with shattered glass littering the floor after counters were violently smashed. The establishment is currently closed temporarily as investigations proceed.

Police Response and Public Efforts

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated that officers were alerted at 10.04am on Tuesday, February 24, in response to reports of an armed robbery at the shop. During the chaotic scene, several bystanders tried to prevent the suspects from fleeing, though no injuries were reported.

Police arrived on the scene by 10.08am and have launched an ongoing investigation, working diligently to secure evidence and identify those involved. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
