Teenager Faces Court Over Fatal Christmas Eve Stabbing

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a young man in South London on Christmas Eve. The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged earlier today, Monday, January 5.

He was due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Youth Court today in connection with the incident.

Victim Named as John Onetufo

The victim of the attack has been named by police as 23-year-old John Onetufo from Deptford. The incident occurred on Grove Street in Lewisham at approximately 12.35pm on Wednesday, December 31.

Mr Onetufo was stabbed in the chest and, despite the efforts of emergency services, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further Arrests Made in Connection with Death

In addition to the charged teenager, police have arrested two other individuals as part of their investigation.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday, January 2. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

An 18-year-old woman was also arrested on Sunday, January 4, on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. She too has been bailed as the investigation continues.

The Metropolitan Police are continuing their enquiries into the tragic death and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
