Man Hospitalised with Life-Threatening Injuries Following Violent Assault in Keighley
A 35-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being attacked by a gang armed with bats and sticks in the early hours of Sunday morning in Keighley, near Bradford. The victim sustained severe head injuries during the assault, which occurred on Flasby Street at approximately 3:15am.
Police Launch Investigation into Targeted Attack
West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that the man was chased through the streets of the Yorkshire town before being assaulted by a group in the vicinity of East Avenue. Detectives from Bradford CID are treating the incident as a targeted attack and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Detective Superintendent Alan Weekes, Head of Crime and Safeguarding for Bradford District, stated: ‘We are treating this incident very seriously and are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify those responsible. Based on the information we have so far, we believe this has been a targeted attack on the victim, who remains in a critical condition in hospital with very serious injuries.’
Two Other Men Assaulted in Same Incident
In addition to the main victim, two other men, aged 21 and 24, were also assaulted during the attack. Fortunately, their injuries were not deemed serious or life-threatening. The police have established a large crime scene in the area to conduct forensic examinations and specialist searches.
Detective Superintendent Weekes added: ‘We recognise that an incident of this nature will cause understandable concern in the community and we are liaising with officers on the local neighbourhood policing team to provide reassurance, and keeping local representatives updated as our enquiries progress.’

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the attack to contact Bradford CID on 101. The police are working to minimise disruption to local residents while maintaining a visible presence to reassure the community. The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance and continues to receive treatment for his critical injuries.
