Armed Police Tackle Knifeman in Kent Town

Dramatic body-worn camera footage has been released showing the tense moment armed police officers tackled a knifeman to the ground in a Kent market town.

The incident unfolded in Faversham on Saturday afternoon after Kent Police received multiple reports of a man behaving erratically while armed with a knife. Armed response units were immediately dispatched to the scene amid growing public safety concerns.

The Confrontation Captured on Camera

The newly released footage shows officers approaching the 25-year-old suspect on a residential street before swiftly bringing him under control. In the video, police can be heard shouting commands as they move in to disarm and detain the individual.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of alarm as the situation developed. "I saw several police cars arrive very quickly, and officers with weapons drawn," one local shopkeeper reported. "They were very professional but you could tell it was serious."

Swift Resolution Prevents Harm

Kent Police confirmed that the suspect was safely detained without injury to members of the public or officers. A knife was recovered at the scene, and the man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and public order offences.

"Our officers responded swiftly and professionally to what was clearly a concerning situation for members of the public," a police spokesperson stated. "Their quick actions ensured the incident was brought to a safe conclusion."

The 25-year-old suspect remains in police custody while investigations continue. Police have reassured local residents that there is no ongoing threat to the community following the arrest.
