Corrections: Sawalha and Adderley apology over false Hamas, Jew claims
Sawalha and Adderley apology over false terror claims

Metro has issued a formal correction and apology to Mark Adderley and his wife, Loose Women star Nadia Sawalha, following an article that falsely accused Mr Adderley of sharing videos celebrating Hamas and promoting antisemitic conspiracy theories.

False allegations published

The original article, titled “Nadia Sawalha hits back at ‘lies’ after Loose Women axe claims” and published on 8 May, stated that Mr Adderley had shared videos celebrating the ‘courage’ of Hamas and conspiracy theories blaming Jews for the 9/11 and Bondi Beach attacks. The newspaper now acknowledges that while Mr Adderley holds strong views about Israel and Zionism, he did not make these statements suggesting support for terrorism or hatred of Jews.

Impact on reputation

The article also noted that Mr Adderley and Ms Sawalha run a YouTube channel and that Ms Sawalha fully supported her husband, which may have suggested she endorsed the statements and videos wrongly attributed to him. These allegations were false, and Metro has apologised to both individuals for the error and distress caused.
