Prince Harry has arrived in the United Kingdom today (Tuesday, July 7) to attend the one-year countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Games, set to take place in Birmingham on Friday. The event marks exactly 365 days until the Games are hosted there next summer.
Harry Travels Alone Without Meghan or Children
The Duke of Sussex, 41, is making the journey alone after his wife Meghan Markle withdrew from the trip, along with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The King was reportedly looking forward to being reunited with his youngest grandchildren, but it was decided they would not accompany their father.
Harry could be set for a reunion with his father, King Charles, though his relationship with his stepmother, Queen Camilla, is described as minimal. In his explosive memoir Spare, published in January 2023, Harry referred to Camilla as "evil", "a villain", and "dangerous".
Queen Camilla Open to Meeting Despite Past Remarks
Despite the well-documented rift, Queen Camilla is said to be "very willing" to meet with Harry during his time in the UK this week, according to reports from the Express. Speaking on the podcast The Royals Uncensored, royal expert Katie Nicholls said: "I'm told that the Queen is also very willing to meet them. I was speaking to a source close to her this week, wondering if she might not be present because of the frankly horrific things Harry has said about Camilla in Spare."
Nicholls added: "But no, if this meeting goes ahead, she wants to be there, she wants to see those step-grandchildren and she's so in lock step with the King."
King Charles Last Saw Archie and Lilibet in 2022
The King is believed to have last seen Archie and Lilibet, now aged seven and five, in person back in June 2022. The children, then aged three and one, traveled to the UK with Harry and Meghan for the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations but did not join senior royals on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
It remains unclear where Harry is staying during his visit. An earlier offer for him to remain at Buckingham Palace was reportedly "withdrawn" after the royal accepted the invitation too late.
