Orpington Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Swanley Shooting

Dave Smith, 28, of Barnfield Road in Orpington, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life following a shooting in Swanley. The charges stem from an incident on Thursday, October 8, when police were called to Acacia Walk, near Elm Drive, at approximately 8.50pm following reports of a “serious assault.”

Police Response and Victim's Condition

Emergency services found a man in his 20s with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a London hospital for treatment but has since been discharged. The swift police response led to the arrest of two men on the same evening, with a further two men arrested on Friday, October 9.

Smith has been remanded to custody pending a court hearing at Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, October 14. This follows the earlier charging of Connor Heffernan, 28, of no fixed address, who faces the same charges of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation

Heffernan appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court on Monday, October 12, where he was remanded to custody pending a further hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on November 9. Meanwhile, two other men who were arrested have been bailed, and the investigation remains ongoing.
