The mother of a social media influencer who was run over outside a nightclub in central London has revealed her daughter remains in a coma fighting for life, with doctors holding little hope for her survival. Klaudia Zakrzewska, 30, was struck by a car outside the Inca nightclub on Argyll Street in Soho at around 4:30 am last Sunday. Known to her hundreds of thousands of followers on TikTok and Instagram as Klaudiaglam, she is critically ill in hospital.
Mother's Heartbreaking Plea
In a statement posted on a GoFundMe page set up to cover legal fees and medical costs, Ms Zakrzewska's mother wrote: 'My daughter is currently in a coma and desperately fighting for her life. This is the most devastating time our family has ever faced.' She added: 'Klaudia is in critical condition, and due to the severity of her injuries, doctors do not believe she will survive. But I truly believe her fight is not over! Klaudia is strong, and I know she still has a chance.' The mother described her daughter as 'truly wonderful' and said she has 'touched so many people with her pure heart and kindness'.
Court Appearance of Accused
Gabrielle Carrington, 29, also a social media influencer with more than 365,000 followers on Instagram under the handle RIELLEUK, has appeared in court charged with attempted murder and other offences. During the hearing, Carrington made a heart sign with her hands towards friends and family. Family and friends of Ms Zakrzewska also attended the court proceedings.
Prosecutor Rizwan Amin outlined the allegations: 'In the early hours of Sunday morning, April 19, ambulance services and police were called to Argyll Street for reports that a woman had been run over. Officers attended at 5am, and the London Ambulance Service was also on the scene. The scene can only be described as lots of people shouting, it could be described as a melee.'
Mr Amin explained that CCTV footage showed Ms Carrington arriving in her car near the Inca nightclub. She had an altercation with a male as she exited the vehicle, which escalated and involved several other members of the public. Security staff attempted to intervene, but Ms Carrington re-entered her car. The vehicle 'immediately moved off and sharply mounted the pavement,' striking Ms Zakrzewska, who was positioned to the front side of the vehicle. She was dragged forward and dropped between the car and a metal bike rack. As the vehicle continued moving, it fully passed over her and also struck a security staff member, Anoush Chyche, who was on the pavement. Carrington then reversed the car as Ms Zakrzewska emerged from under the vehicle, lying prone on the ground.
Charges and Detention
Carrington, from Manchester, has been charged with attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, dangerous driving, and drink driving. The judge ordered that she be held in prison until the next court hearing at the Old Bailey on May 19.
