Farage urged to seek forgiveness over school racial abuse claims

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has been called upon to seek forgiveness from 34 former fellow pupils at Dulwich College who say they were either victims of or witnesses to racial abuse by him. The call comes after Farage defended his ongoing friendship with aide, donor and convicted fraudster George Cottrell as an example of his 'Christian forgiveness'.

Peter Grimsdale, former commissioner of religion at Channel 4, wrote in a letter to the Guardian: 'It is heartening to know that he espouses Christian values. Maybe he should now seek forgiveness from the 34 former fellow Dulwich College pupils who say they were either victims of or witnesses to racial abuse by him.'

British sport and politics parallels

Quentin Falk of Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire, drew a comparison between the problems assailing Reform UK and the England football team's ongoing issues with its right wing during the World Cup. 'Strange how British sport is currently attempting to imitate life,' he wrote.

From dustbin to politician

David Walker, emeritus professor of French at the University of Sheffield, noted an ironic linguistic connection: in France, a politician named Poubelle gave his name to the dustbin, while in the UK, the dustbin has given its name to a politician—a reference to Count Binface, a satirical candidate standing against Farage in Clacton.

Count Binface campaign interest

Helen Christie of Barrowford, Lancashire, expressed interest in campaigning for Count Binface in Clacton, asking: 'How do I sign up to campaign for Count Binface in Clacton? Will travel.'

Bayeux tapestry anticipation

Matthew Newman of Leeds humorously requested no spoilers for the Bayeux tapestry, set to be displayed at the British Museum next year, saying: 'I’m still hoping to get tickets to see the Bayeux tapestry at the British Museum next year, so no spoilers, please, on how it ends.'
