Tyrone Dobbs meets his biological father
Tyrone Dobbs, played by Alan Halsall, receives a shock on Coronation Street today when his daughters Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) and Ruby Dobbs (Billie Naylor) reveal they have found his biological dad. The man, named Ross Wilkes and played by Ian Burfield, has never appeared in Weatherfield before, as Tyrone was raised by adoptive parents.
Earlier in the week, Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) encountered Ross without recognizing him. Given Cassie's traumatic past, his arrival signals trouble. According to the storyline, Tyrone learned about his family connections after finding his grandmother Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) and later his mother Cassie in 2023, who revealed details about his biological father and her own troubled youth.
Ross Wilkes' vile actions against Cassie
When Cassie was 12, she fell in with the wrong crowd and started drinking. By age 15, she was using heroin and being groomed by a man named Richie. Believing Richie loved her, Cassie did as she was told, including sleeping with his friends for money. In the 1980s, Cassie ran away from home after her father's death and returned six months later having recently given birth to a son. It was confirmed that Ross, the father, paid someone to have sex with Cassie when she was underage. Evelyn took Cassie home and left baby Tyrone on a police station doorstep, believing it was the best place for him.
Ross' first scenes on the cobbles
After Cassie's failed proposal to Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), she went to the Chariot Square Hotel, got drunk, and flirted with Ross without recognizing him. Ross was overly friendly at first but later became disgusted by her drinking and told her to go to bed. He signed his bar tab and left; Cassie saw the signature "Ross Wilkes" and was horrified. In today's episode, Tyrone is at the Bistro when Hope and Ruby reveal they have tracked down his dad. Ross arrives, leaving Tyrone stunned. The question remains: what will Cassie do as this awful man re-enters her life?
