David Beckham has come to the defence of his wife Victoria after a photo of her looking supremely bored during England's World Cup quarter-final win against Norway went viral. The beauty mogul and former Spice Girl was caught on camera appearing entirely disinterested as Jude Bellingham scored the winning goal, contrasting sharply with the elated reactions of those around her, including her husband.
Beckham's Explanation
Sir David Beckham, who was seen whooping and cheering in the stands with their children Romeo, Cruz and Harper, addressed the viral moment on social media. 'She was celebrating inside I promise,' he wrote in the comments of a post from comedian Jenny Johnson, who had ribbed Victoria as 'England's number one fan' with an 'infectious smile'. The former England captain added: 'Her reactions were slightly slower than mine.'
Family Absence and Feud
Notably absent from the family outing was eldest son Brooklyn Beckham, amid a high-profile family feud. The 27-year-old, who stirred the pot with a DoorDash advert ahead of the tournament, did not attend but posted an aerial shot of the Miami pitch to his Instagram Stories without commentary. In the advert's teaser, Brooklyn smirked to the camera with a stack of World Cup tickets, saying: 'You're probably wondering why I'm watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home… It's a long story.'
Celebratory Selfie
David Beckham shared a triumphant family selfie on Instagram, writing: 'What a moment in Miami, I'm so proud of the team tonight reaching the semi-final of the World Cup and to celebrate with my family was so special… Thank you England for giving our country these moments.' In the picture, a grinning David fist-pumped the air with his other arm around Victoria, who remained poker-faced, while Cruz, Harper and Romeo smiled alongside them.
