Abuser made woman bark like dog, hid from police in fridge

Police bodycam footage captured the moment a violent abuser who made his victim bark like a dog was found hiding inside his own fridge. Dean Foord, 33, of Brooker Close, Rochester, was discovered crouched inside the appliance during a search of his home in December 2025.

Abuser hid in fridge as police searched home

Officers were seen on bodycam opening cupboards before one opened the fridge to find Foord curled up inside. Acting as if he were casually chilling, he asked police to be nice and take care of his 'broken' foot. The officer replied: 'Get out or I’ll pull you out.'

Foord was arrested after his victim reported the mental and physical abuse she had endured over six months. He controlled her social media accounts and forced her to cut contact with friends and loved ones. She was only allowed to leave the house when Foord gave her permission.

Victim forced to bark like a dog for freedom

Foord locked her in a room and would only let her out after forcing her to bark like a dog. He spent all of her money on gambling, drugs, alcohol and scratch cards. She was not allowed to have a phone; whenever she did, Foord would deliberately destroy it. He even forced her to sell a phone to pay off his drug debt.

He was also violent towards her, dragging her by the neck, pushing her to the floor and banging her head into the ground. When the victim tried to escape, he followed her and threw a brick through a window, putting her friend in fear for her life. He also filmed himself threatening the victim with a knife, saying he was going to kill her, and threw a bucket of dirty water over her.

Foord convicted on multiple charges, jailed for three years

Following a trial, Foord was found guilty of actual bodily harm, criminal damage, threats to kill, common assault, controlling and coercive behaviour, and possession of a class A drug (cocaine). He was jailed for three years.

Investigating officer Police Constable George Fisher said: 'Foord is a violent bully who used fear, violence and intimidation to control almost every aspect of the victim’s life. He tried to hide from officers in a fridge, but there are no hiding places. This shows that we will track offenders down and bring them to justice. I also commend the victim for the courage she has shown in coming forward and helping to secure this conviction.'
