Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, have announced they are expecting their third child this summer. Buckingham Palace expressed delight at the news, which will provide a younger sibling for their sons, August, 5, and Ernest, 2. The couple marked the occasion with an adorable photograph.
In the image shared by Eugenie, 36, Ernest, wearing a Chelsea football kit, and August, in a long-sleeved grey t-shirt, are seen holding a baby scan picture. The Palace statement read: 'Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer. August (aged five) and Ernest (aged two) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family. His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news.'
The new baby, who will not hold an HRH title, will be 15th in line to the throne, moving the Duke of Edinburgh to 16th place. He or she will also be the 15th great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II and the third born since her death in 2022. The arrival will be the fifth grandchild of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, following Princess Beatrice's daughter Athena Mapelli Mozzi born in January last year.
In February, reports emerged that Princess Eugenie had cut contact with her father over his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. A source told the Mail: 'There is no contact at all, nothing. It's Brooklyn Beckham level – she has completely cut him off. Beatrice is trying to walk the fine line of not cutting her father off and yet remaining close with the Royal Family. They aren't exactly in regular and close contact at the moment, but Eugenie isn't trying to walk that line. She's not speaking to him.' Meanwhile, Princess Beatrice had her father attend her daughter's christening earlier this year.
