Hounslow's High Street Welcomes Back Post Office with Extended Hours
Post Office Returns to Hounslow High Street

In a significant boost for the local community, West London residents in Hounslow are celebrating the much-anticipated return of their Post Office to the high street. The branch, which originally closed in November 2024, is scheduled to reopen later this month, bringing relief to many who have faced considerable disruption to essential services.

Council Leader Highlights Vital Role of the Branch

The announcement was made on the London Borough of Hounslow's official website, with Council Leader Councillor Shantanu Rajawat emphasising the critical importance of this facility for both residents and local businesses. He acknowledged the widespread impact of the closure, particularly on elderly members of the community, and expressed his pleasure at its return.

Councillor Shantanu Rajawat stated: "I'm pleased that the Post Office will return to Hounslow High Street on Thursday, February 26. I know how important this service is to residents and local businesses, and how much it has been missed."

Extended Opening Hours to Enhance Accessibility

The new Post Office, located at 173 High Street, Hounslow, TW3 1QL, will not only reopen but also introduce extended operating hours to better serve the community. From Monday to Friday, the branch will be open from 9am to 7pm, while on Saturdays and Sundays, it will operate from 9am to 5pm. On its first day, February 26, it will open at 1pm before transitioning to the new schedule.

Councillor Rajawat added: "Many people have raised this with me directly, and I understand the impact its closure has had. While it has taken time to get to this point, what matters most is that this vital service is now returning to Hounslow High Street with longer opening hours to better support our community."

Modern Design and Community Commitment

According to the Post Office website, the new premises will feature a "low-screen open-plan, modern serving point" to improve customer experience. The layout, fixtures, and fittings have been modified to accommodate the Post Office till, ensuring a seamless integration into the high street environment.

Councillor Rajawat concluded by reaffirming the council's dedication to protecting local services: "I welcome the Post Office's commitment to bringing this service back. As a Council, we will continue to listen to residents and work with partners to protect important local services and support thriving, welcoming town centres."

This reopening marks a positive step for Hounslow, addressing the needs of its residents and reinforcing the high street as a hub for essential community services.
