Roblox Groomer Sentenced to 28 Months for Stalking Teenage Victim
A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to 28 months in prison after obsessively grooming a 14-year-old girl he met through the popular online gaming platform Roblox. Carlo Tritta, from Eastleigh in Hampshire, kept indecent images of the victim and traveled hundreds of miles uninvited to her home in Manchester, highlighting severe online dangers facing children.
Campaign of Fear and Abuse
Detective Constable Jodi Bartlett, who led the investigation, emphasized the terrifying realities of online predation. Tritta's behavior reveals how criminals exploit digital platforms to target vulnerable individuals, she stated. The victim, just 14 years old, endured a campaign of fear and abuse alongside her mother, who described their home as no longer feeling safe.
In a victim impact statement presented at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, the girl expressed feeling trapped and upset, with fears of going downstairs at night due to Tritta's presence. Her mother added that the family was constantly on edge and had considered moving away.
Escalating Offenses and Legal Proceedings
The court heard that Tritta engaged in highly sexualized conversations with the girl, sharing intimate images and videos. After initial contact on Roblox in 2024, he moved their communications to Discord, WhatsApp, and Snapchat. Police were alerted in August 2025 when the mother discovered the messages.
Tritta was arrested but breached bail by traveling to Manchester to confront the victim, entering her home through the back door despite her requests to leave. He also sent letters, attempted phone contact, and tried to frustrate the investigation. Prosecutor Rachael Yarwood detailed these actions, noting Tritta's persistent efforts to intimidate the complainant.
Repeated Breaches and Sentencing
In December 2025, Tritta admitted perverting the course of justice and received a 12-month suspended sentence. However, just three days later, he returned to the victim's home, damaged a video camera, and was arrested again. He ultimately pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including making indecent images—25 of which were classified as category A, the most serious—sexual communication with a child, and witness intimidation.
Defense lawyer Edward Steele argued that Tritta's fixation was partly due to his neurodiverse condition, including Asperger syndrome and a mixed anxiety disorder, which may have compromised his understanding. Despite this, Recorder Ciaran Rankin imposed an immediate custodial term, citing Tritta's pattern of behavior and high risk of harm to children.
Calls for Enhanced Online Safety
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) stressed that tech companies must prioritize child safety from the design phase. A spokesperson asserted that the onus should not fall solely on parents and children, urging platforms like Roblox to implement robust protections.
Roblox responded by highlighting its safety measures, including age verification systems introduced in January 2025 to limit communications between users of similar ages and known contacts. The platform prohibits child exploitation and uses advanced AI to detect grooming, though it acknowledged that no system is perfect.
This case underscores the critical need for vigilance in online spaces, as authorities continue to address the growing threat of digital exploitation targeting young people.
