DWP Benefit Payment Date Changes for May Bank Holidays
DWP Benefit Payment Date Changes for May Bank Holidays

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that certain benefit recipients and State Pension claimants will receive their payments earlier than usual this month due to the May bank holidays. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has also adjusted payment schedules for those expecting money on Monday, May 4, which will now be paid on Friday, May 1.

Why Are Payments Being Moved?

DWP offices, telephone lines, webchat services, and Jobcentre Plus locations will be closed on the bank holiday. Payments are typically processed only when all services are operational, so any payment due on a bank holiday is made on the previous working day.

Which Payments Are Affected?

The early payment applies to recipients of State Pension, Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Child Benefit, Adult Disability Payment (ADP), and Attendance Allowance. A second bank holiday on Monday, May 25 will also result in early payments on Friday, May 22.
