South Yorkshire Police have launched a major investigation after a 14-year-old girl vanished from Rotherham town centre, leading to the arrest of a man and a woman on suspicion of abduction. The teenager, named Cassidy, was last seen in Bridgegate at approximately 7pm on Sunday evening, sparking immediate concern among authorities and the local community.
Arrests Made as Concerns Grow for Cassidy's Welfare
A 60-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman are currently in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of abduction in connection with Cassidy's disappearance. Officers have expressed increasing worry for the girl's safety and are urging the public to come forward with any information that could help locate her.
"Numerous enquiries have been carried out to locate Cassidy, with officers carrying out CCTV trawls, house-to-house visits and searches of the local area, while also examining phone records," stated a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police. "Our enquiries have led to us arresting a 60-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman on suspicion of abduction. They remain in police custody at this time."

Cassidy is described as white, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall, with very long ginger hair typically worn in a ponytail. When she was last seen, she was wearing a grey hoodie and black leggings, and was carrying a small handbag. However, police believe she may have changed her clothing since her disappearance.
The teenager is known to frequent the Thurcroft area and Clifton Park in Rotherham. Authorities are particularly interested in sightings from these locations or any other areas where she might have been seen since Sunday evening.
