Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, 48, was taken to hospital on Tuesday after a concerning TikTok livestream led worried viewers to call emergency services. Deputies from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office (MDSCO) responded to his Florida residence following multiple reports of alleged self-harm during the broadcast.
Police Response and Discovery
According to authorities, officers found Hilton alone inside the property. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office told CNN they “received multiple calls regarding an individual who was livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media.” They added: “Deputies quickly located the individual’s residence, where they spoke with family members on scene, and confirmed he was alone inside.”
The sheriff’s office emphasised their de-escalation approach in such incidents, stating: “In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritise de-escalation by creating time, distance and opportunities for communication. Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilising crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of injury to the individual, deputies and the public.”
Crisis Response and Hospitalisation
The sheriff’s crisis response unit and licensed mental health professionals were dispatched to the scene, providing support to Hilton’s family. Hilton was “safely recovered” and transported to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention. His current condition has not been confirmed.
After the livestream ended, graphic clips allegedly showing Hilton covered in blood began circulating on social media. This incident follows a series of serious health problems Hilton faced earlier this year.
Recent Health Struggles
In March, Hilton revealed he had been hospitalised with severe sepsis while in Las Vegas. Just weeks later, he returned to hospital after developing a deep vein thrombosis in his right leg, undergoing a thrombectomy to remove a blood clot.
Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira Jr, rose to fame in the 2000s with his celebrity gossip website PerezHilton.com. He has remained a prominent online personality for over two decades and is a father to three children, born via surrogacy in 2013, 2015, and 2017.
