Teenager stabbed to death in Kent terraced house

A murder investigation has been launched in Kent following the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old man in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police Discover Victim in Terraced Home

Kent Police were called to Thorold Road in Chatham at 3.11am on Tuesday, December 3, 2025, following reports of an assault. Officers discovered the teenage victim inside a terraced property with injuries consistent with stab wounds.

Despite the efforts of emergency services and paramedics who attended the scene, the young man was pronounced dead at the address. His next of kin have been informed.

Arrest Made and Major Police Cordon Enforced

In connection with the incident, a man in his 30s from the Chatham area was arrested and remains in police custody. A significant cordon was established around the scene, closing the area between Whitehorse Hill and Chatham Hill to traffic.

The police operation caused considerable disruption for local residents. One father living on the street told Kent Online he was unable to return home after taking his children to school because of the cordon. Officers were seen conducting extensive searches, including taping off and examining an alleyway connecting to Luton Road.

Door-to-Door Enquiries and Appeal for Witnesses

Police with dogs were also deployed to search nearby Henry Street in the early hours. The investigation is progressing with door-to-door enquiries as detectives work to piece together the events leading to the teenager's death.

Authorities are urging anyone with information, or who witnessed any suspicious activity in the Thorold Road area around the time of the incident, to contact Kent Police immediately to assist the ongoing murder investigation.

This tragic event follows another fatal stabbing in Chatham just over a month ago, on Saturday, November 1, which resulted in the death of 43-year-old Charles Belsham. Two men were charged with his murder.
