A 25-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a young man in Bury on New Year's Eve, in a violent incident that has shocked the local community.
Emergency Response to Tarn Drive Disturbance
Greater Manchester Police were called to an address on Tarn Drive in Bury at around 11.55pm on Wednesday 31st December. The call was in response to reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 24-year-old man with what they described as "injuries consistent with a stabbing".
Despite the immediate efforts of emergency services at the scene, the man's injuries proved fatal and he was pronounced dead. The investigation was swiftly launched by homicide detectives from Greater Manchester Police's Major Incident Team.
Suspect Charged and Remanded in Custody
Following initial enquiries, police have now charged a suspect in connection with the death. Anthony Junior Murray, aged 25, has been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.
Murray has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to make his first court appearance at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Friday 2nd January. In a separate but related development, a woman in her 20s was also arrested. She has since been released on bail pending further police enquiries.
