Jeremy Clarkson, the former Top Gear presenter and current host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, has revealed that he is now in remission from prostate cancer. The 65-year-old announced the news on Twitter, stating that his latest tests showed no signs of the disease.
Diagnosis and Treatment
Clarkson was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year after a routine blood test. He underwent surgery to remove his prostate in March, followed by a course of radiotherapy. In his tweet, Clarkson said: “I’m now in remission. The cancer has gone. It’s a huge relief.”
Public Awareness
The presenter has been open about his diagnosis, using his platform to encourage men to get tested for prostate cancer. He previously said that his initial diagnosis was a “shock” and urged others not to ignore symptoms. According to Prostate Cancer UK, one in eight men will be diagnosed with the disease in their lifetime.
Support from Fans and Colleagues
Clarkson has received widespread support from fans and fellow celebrities. His co-stars on The Grand Tour, Richard Hammond and James May, have both publicly wished him well. Hammond tweeted: “Great news, Jeremy. So pleased for you.”
Ongoing Health
Clarkson will continue to have regular check-ups to monitor his health. He has advised his followers to be vigilant about their own health, saying: “If you’re over 50, get tested. It could save your life.”
