Krispy Kreme has issued an urgent recall of its Pitch Perfect and Matchday Dozen doughnuts after discovering they contain an undisclosed hazelnut allergen. The football-themed treats were released to celebrate the 2026 World Cup, but a batch of them contains hazelnut fillings not declared on the label.
Affected batches and locations
The recall applies to individual Pitch Perfect Doughnuts purchased on June 19 or 20, as well as Matchday Dozen 12-packs with best-before dates of June 21 and June 22. The doughnuts were sold at Krispy Kreme shops in Peterborough, Peterborough Queensgate, Leicester, Nottingham, Ipswich, Norwich, and Cambridge.
Krispy Kreme advised customers who have bought the affected products not to eat them and to return them for a full refund. To process a refund, customers should provide details of where they bought the product, include a photo and the batch number, and contact the company by phone or email.
Company statement
In a statement, Krispy Kreme said: “Krispy Kreme takes its responsibilities to consumers extremely seriously and always aims to ensure the highest possible standards of product safety. We are sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this product recall may cause.”
The recall highlights the importance of allergen labeling, particularly for products tied to major events like the World Cup, where cross-contamination or mislabeling can pose serious health risks to consumers with allergies.
Other World Cup-themed products
Krispy Kreme is not the only brand launching World Cup-themed items. Walkers, an official sponsor of the tournament, has introduced three new crisp flavours: English Bangers & Mash, Wavy Spanish Queso, and Max Portuguese Chorizo and Onion. PepsiCo, which owns Walkers, is also rolling out World Cup flavours across Doritos and Wotsits, including Mexican Beef Tacos Doritos and football-shaped Wotsits Golden Balls in Smokin’ Cheese flavour.
