Call The Midwife star Helen George has opened up about the death of a secret boyfriend who was 'suddenly' diagnosed with leukaemia. The 42-year-old actress shared her story on the Mystic Mates podcast, recalling the 'beautiful' man she was dating before meeting her recent ex, Dan Innes.
Sudden diagnosis and tragic loss
Helen revealed that the unnamed man was diagnosed with leukaemia just before she flew to the Bahamas to film ITV's Shark! Infested Celebrity Waters, which aired last July. 'I had been dating someone who very suddenly got diagnosed with leukaemia,' she said on the podcast. 'It was pretty serious from the start and he knew.' She added: 'The next day after that happened I had to fly out to the Bahamas to film the ITV shark documentary. I would call my best friend and sob down the phone about this lovely, beautiful man.'
Spiritual connection and clairvoyance
Helen believes her ex-boyfriend is still watching over her and 'comes through' in clairvoyance readings, 'looking after her'. She expressed a desire to become a clairvoyant herself, saying: 'I'd like to talk to dead people.' Recently, she visited a medium who said an ex-boyfriend who died 'very suddenly' was making contact because he's 'not very happy' about her current 'situation'. Helen cried at the reading, stating: 'It was wonderful to think this person, whom I didn't really know for that long, was there. He was angry that he'd left me looking for someone else and then finding someone else who wasn't suitable.'
Recent breakup with Dan Innes
Helen's revelation comes after her recent split from boyfriend Dan Innes, seven months after he moved into her London home. Dan had moved in with Helen and her two children, Wren Ivy and Lark, whom she co-parents with ex-partner and co-star Jack Ashton. A source confirmed the breakup, and Helen took to social media to share posts hinting at heartbreak, including reposting a quote about 'responding to disrespect'. Helen and Dan reportedly met on the dating app Raya and attended industry events together.
