Emmerdale's Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) has been revealed as a vile manipulator who blackmailed and raped Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins). Her true colours are finally exposed after she thought she had gotten away with her crimes. Todd told Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) that if everything went her way, she would win, but karma caught up with her. After Mack confronted her, a flash forward showed Todd dead in a pool of her own blood. The identity of her killer is unknown, but Mack is a likely suspect.
Vanessa's naivety shattered
The last person to learn the truth is Todd's ex, Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick). She had been completely unaware of Todd's torment, having become smitten upon meeting her and ignoring any signs of evil. Todd's brutal dumping did not raise alarm bells. Todd intentionally charmed Vanessa to cultivate a kind and caring facade. Vanessa's naive streak is about to end as the truth surfaces: Todd not only blackmailed Charity for thousands of pounds but also raped her.
Police investigation begins
DS Reid arrives in the village with shattering news for Vanessa, wanting to question her about serious allegations against her ex. Vanessa baulks at the idea and starts asking her own questions. She may begin to realize that the tension between Charity, Mack, and Ross is also due to Todd. Charity is still deteriorating, and worried Mack asks Vanessa if she has seen her when she goes missing again. Neither knows that Charity has taken herself to a rape victim support group, but it remains to be seen if this will help or harm her.
