Christina risks all with brutal lie to George

Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) is set to risk everything in Coronation Street as she tells a brutal lie to George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), threatening their once-beloved relationship. The couple, who were previously one of the most popular pairings on the soap, face a major crisis as Christina's compulsive behavior spirals out of control.

Christina's Lie to the Police

Earlier this year, Christina and George became entangled in a police investigation following the murder of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright). To protect George, Christina told a huge lie to the police, making their friend Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) appear guilty. She later claimed she had muddled her timings and forgotten she stopped for petrol, which George accepted at the time.

However, Christina's deceptions are about to escalate. This week, Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) noticed Christina sneaking off to her car and alerted George. Reluctant to think the worst, George was forced to confront his doubts when Glenda found a credit card statement belonging to Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) in Christina's handbag. George's worst fears were confirmed when he saw Christina embracing a man named Lenny (Joe Osbourne) down the precinct.

Spending Addiction Exposed

Caught in the act, Christina admitted to having a spending addiction. She had set up a credit card in her ex-husband Lenny's name and defrauded both Mary and Glenda. Despite his disgust, George agreed to attend an addicts support group with her to make amends. However, Mary and Glenda were less forgiving. Mary, who has dealt with liars before, insisted that forgiveness needed to be earned.

This week, Christina fumes when she discovers Mary is holding a flash sale, selling household items bought on Christina's spending spree. Mary points out that the items were bought on her card, making them hers to sell. Christina grits her teeth as Mary continues to make jibes about her fraudulent spending habits.

Christina's Compulsive Behavior Worsens

Christina's compulsive behavior takes a turn for the worse with dire consequences for George. A courier arrives at No.11 with a parcel for Christina. Deeply embarrassed, she admits to Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) that she still hasn't got a grip on her spending. When George spots the parcel, Todd covers for her, claiming it's his. Once alone, Todd warns Christina that he won't cover for her again and she shouldn't keep secrets from George. Christina assures him she will mend her ways, but her mouth may be writing cheques her wallet can't cash.

According to a Metro report, Christina's addiction and lies threaten to destroy her relationship with George, as the couple faces their biggest challenge yet.
