Cambridge Drug Dealers Sentenced After Unusual Silent Police Pursuit

Two class A drug dealers have been jailed following a dramatic police chase in Cambridge that was captured on body-mounted camera footage, with the arresting officer's calm demeanor leading online viewers to label it the "weirdest arrest" ever seen.

The Incident and Arrest

On December 29 last year, police officers in Teversham, Cambridge, spotted Daniel Bari, 27, and Emilis Urlikas, 20, acting suspiciously. Suspecting drug dealing, officers approached, but both men fled on foot. Bodycam footage released by Cambridgeshire Police shows one officer sprinting after Bari through a residential area, eventually cornering him outside a house.

Bari attempted to run again but was subdued with a Taser. During the arrest, officers discovered he was carrying 124 wraps of crack cocaine and 110 wraps of heroin, with a combined street value exceeding £1,000. Additionally, two mobile phones and £2,590 in cash were recovered. Urlikas was arrested shortly afterward; while no drugs were found on him, investigations confirmed his involvement in the supply operation with Bari.

Viral Reaction and Sentencing

The footage quickly gained attention online, with YouTube users remarking on the officer's composed approach, describing him as "the most chill cop ever" due to the lack of shouting and the near-silent nature of the pursuit. Many also praised the officer's physical fitness in apprehending the suspect.

At Peterborough Crown Court, Bari, of Outfield, Bretton, Peterborough, was sentenced to five years and seven months in prison after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, as well as possession of criminal property. Urlikas, of Whalley Street, Peterborough, received a 16-month sentence in a Young Offenders Institution after admitting to similar charges.

Police Statement

Detective Constable McAuley commented on the case, stating, "Thanks to the quick work of officers, we were able to seize a significant quantity of class A drugs and put these men in prison. This sentencing sends a clear message that drug dealing will not be tolerated in Cambridgeshire."

The incident highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes in the region, with this particular arrest standing out for its unique and viral characteristics.
