Harrow has achieved Green Flag status for two additional parks, bringing the total to 10 award-winning green spaces in the borough. The council expressed delight, noting that this surpasses the combined total of its three neighboring boroughs—Brent, Barnet, and Hillingdon.
Green Flag Award Criteria
The Green Flag Award is an international mark of quality for publicly accessible parks and open spaces. It recognizes sites that are welcoming, well-maintained, clean, and managed with creativity and innovation. Securing more Green Flags was a key action in Harrow Council's plan to restore pride in the borough.
West Harrow Park Upgrades
West Harrow Park, a historic space that recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, earned its first Green Flag following significant improvements. These include a new playground, upgraded tennis courts, and an outdoor gym. The park is a much-loved community asset.
Pinner Village Gardens Recognition
Pinner Village Gardens, described by the council as a hidden gem, also received its first Green Flag. The council thanked the local friends group for their dedication and hard work in achieving this status.

Council Reactions
Portfolio Holder for Community and Culture, Cllr Janet Mote, said: “Everyone loves our parks, and I'm absolutely delighted that we’ve won two more Green Flag parks, taking us from eight to ten award-winning parks in Harrow. Pinner Village Gardens and West Harrow Park have both achieved Green Flag status for the very first time. A huge amount of work has gone into improving both parks and ensuring they get the national recognition they deserve. It's a fantastic achievement, and I'd like to thank our dedicated staff, park user groups and volunteers who have played such an important role in securing award-winning status for 10 parks.”
Council Leader, Cllr Paul Osborn, highlighted that Harrow now has more Green Flag parks than Brent, Barnet, and Hillingdon combined. He added: “We’re committed to our open spaces and putting residents first.”
The judges were impressed with the joint efforts of volunteers, park user groups, and the council’s park teams in maintaining high standards across the borough's green spaces.
