Overnight temperatures during the London heatwave are set to be uncomfortably high as the Met Office forecasts record-breaking heat next week. The nights could be a struggle when summer arrives in the UK, especially after a wet and dreary April and May. While the sunshine brings joy, the high overnight temperatures are less welcome.
Amber Weather Warnings in Place
Amber weather warnings are in effect for next week, with the Met Office predicting the hottest ever recorded June day in the country. Monday and Tuesday, June 22 and 23, are expected to see temperatures reaching up to 32C in the late afternoon. Wednesday and Thursday, June 24 and 25, are also forecast to break the 30C mark.
In London, temperatures tend to be higher than the rest of the country due to population density and the proximity of buildings. This raises the question: will Londoners be able to get a good night's sleep?
Nighttime Temperatures
The days will be hotter than the nights, but investing in a powerful fan is recommended as temperatures will remain high. On Monday night, the figure will reach around 24C at about midnight, with the coolest point around 4am at approximately 22C. Tuesday night follows a similar pattern.
