Thames Valley Police have made two arrests following a serious assault at Reading College that left a teenager in hospital. The incident, which occurred on Thursday afternoon, prompted a significant emergency service response and an ongoing police investigation.
Police Investigation and Arrests
The assault took place at approximately 2:20pm on Thursday, November 6 on Kings Road in Reading. According to police statements, a 17-year-old boy from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article on school/further education premises.
A second suspect, a 16-year-old boy also from Reading, has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent. Both individuals remain in police custody, and authorities have confirmed they are not looking to make any further arrests at this time.
Victim's Condition and College Response
The victim, described as being in his late teens, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. He was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged to continue his recovery at home.
Reading College confirmed the incident through an automated message on their phone line, stating: "We have dealt with an incident at Reading College where one student has sustained injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Their family have been informed."
Ongoing Police Presence and Community Reassurance
Officers remain in the area around Reading College today (Friday, November 7) and are conducting increased patrols as part of what police describe as a 'priority' investigation.
A Thames Valley Police spokesperson emphasised: "We understand that this may have caused concern but we are investigating this as a priority and are working closely with our partners."
