Emergency Response to School Chemical Incident
Five people, including three teenagers and two adults, have been transported to hospital following a chemical exposure incident at Biddulph High School in Staffordshire. The emergency unfolded on Monday morning when paramedics were called to the school on Conway Road at 10.15am.
West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they treated six patients at the scene after receiving reports of individuals being exposed to a chemical substance. A spokesperson detailed their response: "Two paramedic officers, an ambulance and specialist paramedics responded to the scene."
Hospital Admissions and On-Scene Treatment
Of the six patients assessed by medical teams, five were taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital for what authorities described as "precautionary checks." The group comprised three teenagers alongside one man and one woman, all connected to the school.
The sixth individual received treatment at the location and was subsequently discharged, avoiding hospital admission. All those transported to hospital are understood to be in stable condition.
Emergency Services Contain Hazard
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident following reports of a chemical spill within the school premises. Three fire appliances were dispatched to coordinate with police and ambulance colleagues.
Fire service personnel successfully isolated the chemical and implemented ventilation procedures to clear the affected building. The swift action ensured the situation was brought under control without further risk to students or staff.
The school remains cooperating with investigations while emergency services have confirmed the site is now safe. Parents have been notified of the incident through official school channels.
