Kym Marsh Joins EastEnders Star in Single White Female Stage Tour
Kym Marsh's New Role Revealed After Waterloo Road Exit

Former Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has unveiled her next professional move following her departure from BBC school drama Waterloo Road, and it's taking her back to the theatre in a major way.

From the Cobbles to the Stage

Kym Marsh will play the lead role of Hedy in the UK and Ireland tour of Single White Female, the psychological thriller that gripped audiences as a 1990s blockbuster film. The production marks a significant career shift for the actress, who left Waterloo Road earlier this year amid speculation about a potential return to Coronation Street.

In an Instagram post from July, Marsh expressed her excitement about the new challenge. 'Aarrgghhh! I am so excited to announce that I'll be playing Hedy in this brand new stage adaptation of 90s blockbuster Single White Female,' she wrote. 'I remember being gripped when I first saw it in the cinema and I can't wait to be part of the team that brings it to life on stage.'

Soap Stars Unite for Thrilling Production

Marsh won't be the only familiar face from British television in the production. EastEnders star and TV chef Lisa Faulkner has also joined the cast, taking on the role of Allie. The two soap veterans will bring the intense psychological drama to theatres across the UK and Ireland beginning in January 2026.

Faulkner shared her enthusiasm about the project in her own social media announcement, stating: 'We are both so excited to be starring together in the world premiere stage adaptation of Single White Female.'

The play has already generated significant buzz among their industry peers. Coronation Street's Claire Sweeney commented 'Well done darling' on Marsh's announcement, while Helen Flanagan added 'Can't wait to watch you.' From the EastEnders camp, Glynis Barber described the casting as 'Sounds amazing!' and Tamzin Outhwaite exclaimed 'YES LISA! both women are BRILLIANT.'

A Career of Dramatic Roles

Kym Marsh built her reputation playing Michelle Connor on Coronation Street from 2006 until 2019, during which time her character faced numerous dramatic storylines including:

  • The discovery her son had been swapped at birth
  • The deaths of both her brothers
  • A stalking ordeal and shooting
  • The tragic loss of her son Ruairi after going into early labour
  • A dramatic love triangle that revealed her fiancé's double life

Since leaving the ITV soap, Marsh has maintained a diverse career including stage productions like Fatal Attraction, musicals Greatest Days and 101 Dalmatians, presenting BBC Morning Live, competing on Strictly Come Dancing, and most recently playing Nicky Walters in Waterloo Road.

Lisa Faulkner is best known to soap fans for her role as Fi Browning in EastEnders during 2017, where her character was a major antagonist involved in her father James Wilmott-Brown's property development scheme on the Square. Her character ultimately turned against her family after learning about her father's past crimes.

The stage adaptation of Single White Female is written by Rebecca Reid, based on both the original film and John Lutz's novel SWF Seeks Same. Marsh encouraged fans to 'Watch out for the stilettos!' in her announcement, hinting at the dramatic tension audiences can expect from the production.

The tour begins in January 2026 with dates, venues and ticket information available through the stars' social media channels and official theatre listings.
