The latest Emmerdale trailer has dropped a bombshell: Dawn Fletcher's wedding to Joe Tate will end in tragedy, with the bride seen swapping her white dress for a black veil. The ITV soap's dramatic preview confirms that death is on the horizon, leaving fans guessing who won't make it through the nuptials.
Dawn (Olivia Bromley) and Joe (Ned Porteous) are set to marry, but their path to the altar is anything but smooth. Dawn has already betrayed Joe by kissing Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle), and Billy is currently in a coma after a brutal attack. Joe is the prime suspect, but Dawn desperately wants to believe he's changed. Tomorrow, Billy is due to wake up, and Dawn hopes he'll identify the real attacker and clear Joe's name.
Wedding week chaos ahead
The upcoming episodes promise a 'huge' wedding week, but the trailer suggests celebrations will be marred by catastrophe. Show boss Laura Shaw teased, 'The run up to Dawn and Joe's wedding will be far from straightforward but the week of the wedding is even more dramatic! The day will end in tragedy with the consequences having ramifications that will impact the villagers' lives for years to come.'
In the trailer, both Joe and Billy are seen disappearing from Dawn's mirror, hinting that either could be the victim. The suspense is palpable as viewers wonder who will be wearing the black veil.
Producer hints at more shocks
Speaking to Metro last week, Shaw revealed that the drama doesn't stop at the wedding. 'All I can say is that the wedding week is huge and then what follows after… The boom, boom, booms absolutely do not stop!' she enthused. 'Just because of the way that we film, I've actually already watched the run of episodes after the wedding and I just sat there and even though I knew what was coming, I kept gasping out loud. There's so many shocks, there's so many twists, there's so many turns.'
As the countdown to the wedding begins, Dawn's hope for a happy ending seems fragile. With Billy's life hanging in the balance and Joe's innocence in question, the stage is set for a wedding day that will go down in Emmerdale history for all the wrong reasons.
