In next week's Coronation Street, Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) steps in when a volatile confrontation erupts between Lucy and Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner). The scene unfolds after Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) and Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) are woken by a scream from Lucy, who is reeling from a nightmare. Lucy, the daughter of Tim's cousin Richie (Nathan Sussex) and his murdered wife Rachel, has been staying with the Metcalfes after her foster placement fell through.
Jodie's intervention in Victoria Garden
Later, Lily finds Lucy alone in Victoria Garden. When Lucy ignores her, Lily calls her a freak and tries to leave, but Lucy grabs Lily's arm. Jodie intervenes, and the question is whether she can get through to Lucy when nobody else can. Jodie's past includes attacking Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and attempting to seduce David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), but her own brokenness might make her uniquely able to reach Lucy.
Tim and Sally's struggle with Lucy's trauma
Tim feels responsible for Lucy's situation, as he encouraged Richie to return home to reconcile with Rachel, which led to the murder. Lucy is deeply traumatised and has already screamed at Tim that he doesn't really care about her. Sally and Tim are out of their depth, and the situation is further strained when Tim suggests Rachel would still be alive if Sally had let Richie stay.
Can Jodie do some good for once?
Jodie's background of being 'broken' might allow her to connect with Lucy, offering a chance for redemption. The storyline continues as Jodie's other schemes, including her theft of neighbours' belongings like Brian Packham's (Peter Gunn) book, Bernie Winter's (Jane Hazlegrove) photograph, and Carl Webster's (Jonathan Howard) gun, remain unresolved. The gun was discovered by Lily, which led to Jodie's assault on Sarah. Whether Jodie can truly help Lucy or if her motives are selfish remains to be seen in upcoming episodes.
