Guardian Readers' Best Photos: From Owls in Canada to Moon in Gloucestershire
Guardian Readers' Best Photographs Showcased

The Guardian has unveiled another captivating selection of images sent in by its readers from around the world, showcasing a diverse range of scenes and subjects.

A Global Snapshot

The collection spans continents, opening with a serene image from Guelph, Ontario, Canada, where a screech owl finds an unusual perch on a shelf fungus. The visual journey continues to Rouen, France, where a clever composition at the Musée des Beaux-Arts places a solitary 21st-century man in perfect alignment with a 19th-century wedding party in Albert Fourié's painting, 'A Wedding Reception in Yport'.

Closer to home, the UK is well represented. Devon contributed a vibrant fireworks display over Dartington Hall, while Newcastle upon Tyne offered an abstract view of autumn leaves creating a painter's palette on the city streets. A detailed spider was spotted in Kent's Great Comp Garden, and a cat named Coco enjoyed the autumn sun on a fence in Surrey.

Art, Nature, and Urban Life

The photographs beautifully blend art and reality. In Gloucestershire, the impressive 'Museum of the Moon' installation was captured inside the historic Tewkesbury Abbey. Meanwhile, London provided two contrasting scenes: colourful revellers celebrating the Day of the Dead on Columbia Road and a poignant image of a crane building new homes, symbolising urban displacement and renewal.

The international scope broadens with an aerial shot of The Andes, taken on a flight from Chile to Peru, depicting snow like veins on the earth. In the Okavango Delta, Botswana, mokoro polers create a peaceful sunset scene, albeit with the modern twist of a loud radio. Further perspectives come from Ottawa, Canada, with a sunset view from a hotel room, and the intricate interior of the men's ablution area in the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.

Other notable submissions include a quiet afternoon in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and reflective scenes at the Vatican in Rome, Italy. The gallery was published on Tue 18 Nov 2025 at 16.00 GMT.

How to Participate

The Guardian continues to invite readers to submit their own photographs for potential publication in its online galleries and on the newspaper's letters page, offering a platform for amateur and professional photographers alike to share their unique perspectives with a global audience.
