Tom Kane, the renowned voice actor celebrated for his roles in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and The Powerpuff Girls, has passed away at the age of 64. His representative, Zach McGinnis, confirmed the news to TMZ, sharing a heartfelt tribute: "Though his voice may now be silent, the characters, stories, and love he gave to the world will live on forever."

McGinnis added: "But beyond the incredible career was an extraordinary man. Tom was a devoted husband and father who, alongside his wife, built a loving family of nine children — three biological and six welcomed through adoption and fostering."

No further details of his death were disclosed, but it is known that Kane died in a hospital, surrounded by his family. He had been suffering from long-term complications resulting from a stroke he suffered in 2020.

Iconic Roles

Kane lent his voice to some of the most beloved characters in animation and pop culture. He voiced Jedi Grand Master Yoda in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Professor Utonium — the scientist who creates the Powerpuff Girls — and the demonic villain HIM. His contributions extended to video games, including the Call of Duty franchise.

Just weeks before his death, Kane shared his final Instagram post, posing alongside the actresses who voiced the Powerpuff Girls. The caption read: "Reunited with my girls!!"

Canadian actress Tara Strong, 53, who voiced Bubbles, commented: "We were SO happy…so emotional to be back with our professor. It’s been way too long beautiful friend. Our hearts are filled with joy to be back together with you & to hear your beautiful voice slowly coming back brought tears to our eyes. @tkanevo you are an angel on earth, always have been."

The original trio — including E.G. Daily (Buttercup) and Cathy Cavadini (Blossom) — had reunited at the Lexington Comic & Toy Convention in late March. Daily described it as an "amazing reunion."

Retirement and Health Struggles

Kane retired from voice acting six years ago after his stroke left him unable to speak. In December of that year, his daughter provided an update, explaining that he had suffered a left-sided stroke that caused right-sided weakness and damage to the speech center of his brain. She noted that he remained in good spirits, adding: "My dad still remains in good spirits, and his extreme stubbornness has helped him already show improvements in speech."

Kane's legacy as a voice actor will continue to resonate through the characters he brought to life, leaving an indelible mark on fans worldwide.
