The iconic British girl group Mis-Teeq has officially announced their return after a 20-year hiatus. The trio, consisting of Sabrina Washington, Alesha Dixon, and Su-Elise Nash, will reunite for a one-off concert at Wembley Stadium in September to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut album Lickin' On Both Sides. The show will be accompanied by previously unheard remixes of their classic hits.
A Long-Awaited Reunion
Speaking exclusively to Vogue, Alesha Dixon, who is also a judge on Britain's Got Talent, expressed her excitement: 'It feels like it is just slotting back into place, guys. It’s just like it used to be – me saying too much and them two looking at me like, “Oh, here she goes!”' Sabrina Washington added, 'We were messaging each other last night saying how excited we were even just to come to the shoot today. Since the group ended, we haven’t done anything public together.'
Why Now?
Alesha revealed that the timing finally felt right: 'We’ve been offered reunion stuff over the years, but it’s never felt right. This time, everything just lined up.' The group, known for blending rap, R&B, hip-hop, and UK garage, emerged during a vibrant era of British music. Alesha reflected on their early days: 'We were very fortunate that we came about at a time where there was this amazing wave in the UK of a fresh new sound. Along with the likes of Ms Dynamite, Craig David, and So Solid Crew, the UK was doing something that people could really be proud of that felt like their own. We were very conscious of having a British sound.'
Plans for the Future
The women are planning rehearsals in August ahead of their September reunion show. This announcement marks a significant moment for fans of the group, who have waited two decades for a live performance. The concert is expected to feature their biggest hits from Lickin' On Both Sides and other fan favorites.
This is a breaking story, and more details are expected to follow in the coming weeks.
