Iconic British 00s girlband Mis-Teeq have officially announced a shock comeback after 20 years. The UK garage trio, consisting of Sabrina Washington, Alesha Dixon, and Su-Elise Nash, split two decades ago but are reuniting to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their iconic album Lickin' On Both Sides.
One-Off Wembley Show and New Music
The group will reunite for a one-off show at Wembley in September and plan to release previously unheard remixes. Mis-Teeq were early pioneers of fusing rap, R&B, hip-hop, and UK garage, creating a distinctive British sound that resonated with fans worldwide.
Band Members Express Excitement
Speaking about the reunion, Alesha Dixon said: "It feels like it is just slotting back into place, guys. It's just like it used to be – me saying too much and them two looking at me like, 'Oh, here she goes!'" Chatting exclusively to Vogue, Sabrina Washington added: "We were messaging each other last night saying how excited we were even just to come to the shoot today. Since the group ended, we haven't done anything public together."
Alesha revealed that they had "been offered reunion stuff over the years, but it's never felt right." However, "this time, everything just lined up."
Reflecting on Their Early Days
Alesha spoke about their early days as musicians: "We were very fortunate that we came about at a time where there was this amazing wave in the UK of a fresh new sound. Along with the likes of Ms Dynamite and Craig David and So Solid Crew, the UK was doing something that people could really be proud of that felt like their own. We were very conscious of having a British sound."
The women are planning rehearsals in August for their reunion show. This is a breaking story, more to follow.
