Meryl Streep Reveals Past 'Beef' with Goldie Hawn Over Tardiness on Death Becomes Her Set
Meryl Streep Reveals 'Beef' with Goldie Hawn Over Tardiness

Meryl Streep has revealed which of her former co-stars 'annoyed' her during the filming of an iconic movie. The 76-year-old Mamma Mia star is currently back on the big screen, reprising her role as Miranda Priestly in the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada. Joined by original cast members Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci from the 2006 film, the sequel has received rave reviews from fans who have hailed it as 'phenomenal.'

Streep Revisits Past Roles

Speaking ahead of the sequel's release, the Oscar-winning actress revisited some of her earlier roles, including one that proved problematic at the time. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Streep said she had a particular bone to pick with Goldie Hawn, her co-star in the 1992 film Death Becomes Her, which also featured Bruce Willis.

Recalling their time together on set, Streep stated: 'Goldie, she was always late to set. And I'm always on time, you know, and annoying.' She added, 'But she was so adorable. She had a red convertible, I remember, and she'd drive herself to set. So that was probably the problem. She'd drive herself to set. She had her hair all… "Oh gosh, sorry!" And everybody thought, "Oh, she's so cute." Yeah. So I had a beef with her.'

Despite the Beef, Fond Memories

Despite their 'beef,' Streep emphasized that she loved their time working together. Calling it 'silly and fabulous,' she said they 'had a lot of fun' and are 'good buddies' today. 'We just laughed. We just had a lot of fun. And she's the best laugher in America, really,' Streep added. 'She laughs like, "Ahahaha!" And then they have to stop shooting. But that part was fun. Over the years, we've had some laughs about that movie because people love it. I thought it was like a documentary on Beverly Hills.'

Streep Skips Met Gala Again

This revelation comes after the reason why Streep has never attended the Met Gala was disclosed earlier this week. This year's Met Gala on May 4 will take place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, with Beyoncé returning for the first time in 10 years as a co-chair alongside Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams. Despite the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2 just days prior to the fashion event, Streep will not be making an appearance.

A representative for the 76-year-old icon told Metro: 'Meryl has been invited to the Met Gala for many years but has never attended. While she appreciates Vogue, Anna, and her incredible imagination and stamina, it has never quite been her scene.'

Metro has approached Goldie Hawn's representatives for comment.
