Martin Kemp: Spandau Ballet star joins I'm a Celebrity

Music and television icon Martin Kemp is trading his home comforts for the Australian outback as he joins the cast of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! for its 2025 series. The beloved star is set to face bushtucker trials and campfire dramas in the show's landmark 25th season on ITV.

From Bassist to Soap Star: The Martin Kemp Story

Martin Kemp first shot to fame as the bassist for the iconic new wave band Spandau Ballet. He joined his brother Gary's band, then called The Gentry, after a crash course in learning the bass guitar in just three months. The group, which became Spandau Ballet, achieved massive success with four top ten albums in the UK charts.

In 1984, Martin performed alongside music's biggest names on the legendary charity single Do They Know It's Christmas? The band originally split in the 1990s but reunited in 2009 for a successful world tour.

Life After Spandau: EastEnders and Family

Following Spandau Ballet's initial breakup, Kemp established himself as a successful actor. He is best known for playing Steve Owen in EastEnders between 1998 and 2002, appearing in over 200 episodes of the BBC soap opera.

Martin is married to Shirlie Kemp, and together they have two children: radio host and television personality Roman Kemp and daughter Harley Moon Kemp. Interestingly, his children are currently competing against each other in the BBC's Celebrity Race Across the World.

In 2023, Martin and Shirlie appeared on ITV's The Masked Singer disguised as the Cat & Mouse duo, showcasing their enduring presence in British entertainment.

Why This Jungle Appearance Matters

Martin Kemp's entry into the I'm a Celebrity jungle feels like a long-awaited moment for many fans. His diverse career spanning music, acting, and reality television makes him one of the most recognisable faces in the 2025 lineup. As part of series 25 of the legendary ITV programme, his participation adds significant star power to this milestone season.

Audiences can expect to see how the former Spandau Ballet star handles the notorious creepy crawlers and challenging conditions of the Australian jungle when the show airs later this year.
