Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) reached the end of his tether in Emmerdale today, and told someone else about what Doctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) is doing to him. The ruthless surgeon, who made a return to the ITV soap earlier this year, has been bullying Jacob for weeks now, and he still does not know why.
Jacob's situation got even more complex when Caitlin decided to move in with Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick). She is now taking pleasure in making it look as though Jacob is obsessed with her, much to Vanessa and Manpreet Sharma's (Rebecca Sarker) concern. Doctor Todd gained even more power when Charity Dingle's (Emma Atkins) baby was born, as she learned that Jacob and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) are not actually the parents. In her eyes, it is an absolutely delightful piece of information that she can use to her advantage.
In this evening's episode, Doctor Todd decided to cause chaos by suggesting to Sarah that Jacob cannot wait to return to work after his paternity leave. Sarah found this really insulting and raced to confront her husband.
Frustrated, Jacob found Doctor Todd in the pub and berated her for lying to Sarah. Doctor Todd then went into the toilets – and Jacob followed. He had landed right in her trap. As they argued, Jacob made a comment about how much he hates Todd – just as Vanessa walked in.
Exhausted and beaten down, Jacob had little to no energy to fight Vanessa later in the day, who arrived in the shop and said that Leyla, his late mum, would be ashamed if she knew that he was behaving so badly around his female boss. Listening in on this was Sarah, who had arrived and wondered what on earth was going on. Jacob broke down to his partner and revealed the ordeal Doctor Todd is putting him through. Sarah hugged Jacob and vowed to help him.
Two heads are better than one when it comes to creating a plan – but do Sarah and Jacob really have what it takes to go up against Doctor Todd and win?
