Dogs and their owners gathered outside the LEGO Store at Battersea Power Station for an early viewing of the new LEGO Ideas Wallace & Gromit set. The store opened its doors two hours early to welcome four-legged fans, from terriers to corgis and spaniels, for a special preview of the set.
Inside, a giant, life-size recreation of Wallace & Gromit’s iconic red motorbike and sidecar – built entirely from LEGO bricks and inspired by the machine the duo tear through the countryside on in A Close Shave – was ready for dogs to hop aboard for a picture. Guests who snapped their photo also took home a limited-edition postcard and received a unique stamp in their LEGO passport.
Early birds and dedicated fans
Ahead of the doors opening, LEGO fan Lauren, owner of Loki the terrier, said: “Loki’s been up since 6am for this, so I’d say he’s a pretty dedicated Gromit fan… although I might be giving him a bit too much credit. I couldn’t resist bringing him along, and getting a picture of him on the sidecar is definitely one we’ll treasure.”
The event marked the launch of the LEGO Ideas Wallace & Gromit set, which is now available to purchase. The set, numbered 21371, is priced at £89.99 and can be found at LEGO.com/Wallace-Gromit.
Designer signing in Bristol
LEGO and Wallace & Gromit fans in Bristol can also meet the creative masterminds behind the new set at a designer signing event. On Saturday, October 3, between 10am and 11am, LEGO Ideas designer Sébastien Esnault, plus LEGO designers Ellen Bowley and Tom Gerardin, will be at the LEGO Store Cribbs to meet fans and sign copies of the set.
