The National Theatre has announced ticket sale dates for its most anticipated 2026 production, Electra/Persona, starring Hollywood icon Cate Blanchett alongside Nina Hoss. The show, a fusion of the ancient Greek tragedy Electra and Ingmar Bergman's classic 1966 thriller Persona, is adapted and directed by Australian filmmaker Benedict Andrews. Given Blanchett's star power, the two-month run is expected to sell out quickly, so theatregoers should plan ahead.
Performance Dates and Booking Information
Electra/Persona will run from August 19 to October 10, 2026, at the National Theatre. Public booking opens at noon on Thursday, May 21, 2026. However, members of the National Theatre will have access to a pre-sale the week before, which significantly increases the chance of securing tickets without rush. Additionally, American Express cardholders may also get early access a few days before the general sale.
Rush Tickets and Other Options
For those who miss the main sale, the National Theatre will release £10 Rush Tickets every Friday throughout the run. These are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. It is advisable to check the National Theatre's website regularly for availability.
Other Major Shows Going on Sale May 21
The same day also sees ticket releases for several other notable productions at the National Theatre. These include:
- Cloud No 9: A revival of Caryl Churchill's landmark play, running from November 2, 2026, to January 13, 2027. This marks the first London staging of the avant-garde playwright's breakthrough work in decades.
- Catarina and the Beauty of Killing Fascists: A radical Portuguese play by renowned playwright and director Tiago Rodrigues, with a one-week run from September 19 to 26, 2026.
- Some Women: A new play by Helen Edmundson starring Anne-Marie Duff as an ordinary woman who challenges the system, running from October 7 to November 21, 2026.
- The Rise and Fall of Little Voice: A revival of the classic play-with-songs, scheduled for the Christmas season from December 2, 2026, to January 23, 2027.
