Pierce Brosnan has publicly dismissed rumours of a feud with his MobLand co-star Tom Hardy, describing the reported tension as a 'storm in a teacup'. Speaking at the London premiere of the Guy Ritchie crime series, the 73-year-old actor, best known for playing James Bond, insisted that the cast and crew remained a close-knit unit.
Brosnan's Reassurance at London Premiere
Addressing the press, Brosnan said: 'Oh my God, it was a storm in a teacup, really. I love the dude. I love Tom Hardy. I'm a massive fan of the man's work. Truly.' He went on to describe the production team as 'rock solid as a company, as a family'.
'Everyone shows up for work, and everybody's just there on the spot,' Brosnan added. 'It moves very fast so it's not like we go out and socialise and go to the pub or anything like that. Everyone goes home to their families and before you know it, you've done 10 episodes.'
Background to the Feud Rumours
The second series of MobLand made headlines during filming after reports of behind-the-scenes tension, with Hardy at the centre of the speculation. He was reportedly accused of keeping co-stars waiting on set and clashing with showrunner Jez Butterworth and David Glasser over script disagreements.
Following these reports, it was clarified that Hardy had not been axed from the show. Dame Helen Mirren, who also stars in the series, posted a supportive picture of Hardy to quell the rumours.
Hardy and Mirren Respond
Hardy, for his part, praised Brosnan and Mirren, calling it a 'privilege' to work alongside them. 'They're awesome,' he said. 'In many aspects of course I look up to them. Coming up, these are actors that came before me. So to be able to work with them is a privilege.'
Dame Helen, 81, who plays Conrad's formidable wife Maeve Harrigan, added: 'The relationships are amazing. Obviously, Pierce and I have an extraordinary chemistry on-screen and off-screen. We're very, very fond of each other. We respect each other enormously.'
MobLand Series Two Details
The second series of MobLand sees the Harrigan family struggling to maintain a united front as they face increasingly dangerous rivals. Hardy's character, Harry Da Souza, remains at the centre of the action, with Brosnan returning as mob boss Conrad Harrigan.
MobLand series two premieres globally on Paramount+ on September 18.
